Australian Open 2018 Tennys Sandgren apologizes for offensive tweet

Image
However, following criticism from the likes of Serena Williams, who took to Twitter to say “there is a entire group of people that deserves an apology”, Sandgren used his social media account to look to draw a line under the controversy. “In regards to the gay club tweet from 2012, I used poor and harsh words to describe a bad experience, and is not indicative of how I feel about the people in that community. To everyone I offended with that, pls accept my apology,” Sandgren wrote on Thursday. On Wednesday, Serena Williams had called for Sandgren to apologize, writing: "I don't need or want one. But there is an entire group of people that deserves an apology." Amazingly, the 26-year-old missed out on qualifying in the last four years to reach the main draw in Melbourne. He conquered former winner Stan Wawrinka and fifth seed Dominic Thiem before losing to South Korean giant-killer Hyeon Chung, who knocked out six-times champion Novak Djokovic

Trump‬ apologize after embarrassment of sharing British far right videos

Image
President Trump put on a rare display of remorse for retweeting anti-Muslim videos from a far-right political party in Britain. Trump, claiming he knew nothing about Britain First, told Piers Morgan, “If you’re telling me they’re horrible racist people I would certainly apologize if you’d like me to." Trump spoke to Morgan, his longtime friend and Celebrity Apprentice winner, in Davos, Switzerland, and made an effort to patch up his strained relationship with the UK after his retweets sparked an international outcry in November. When pressed on whether he would apologize for his retweet, Trump said that if the group was made up of racists then he would. “Here’s what’s fair, if you’re telling me they’re horrible people, horrible racist people I would certainly apologize if you would like me to do that,” Trump said. “I know nothing about them. I don’t want to be involved with [these] people, but you’re telling me about these people because I know nothing about these

Big Tsunami warning after a massive earthquake in Alaska

Image
A powerful undersea earthquake sent Alaskans fumbling for suitcases and racing to evacuation centers in the middle of the night after a cell phone alert warned a tsunami could hit communities along the state’s southern coast and parts of British Columbia. The monster waves never materialized, but people who fled endured four hours of tense waiting at shelters before they were cleared to return home. “A tsunami was generated by this event, but no longer poses a threat,” a message from the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center said just after 4 a.m. in Alaska. all warnings were lifted. The only tsunami was an 8-inch wave in Kodiak. tuesday morning's earthquake happened where the floor of the Pacific Ocean is slowly sliding under the North American continent. Government shutdown‬ trump, ‪Democratic Party‬, ‪United States Senate

Image
The U.S. government shut down at midnight after Congress failed to resolve a partisan standoff over immigration and spending. In a late-night vote, Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would have kept the government running for four weeks. (Jan. 20)  AP The gambit failed miserably. The Republican Party’s already low standing in public opinion polls plunged further. Mr. Obama and Democratic lawmakers were widely seen as victorious. Then the following November, something happened that plainly informed the moves of Democrats today as they drove the government toward another shutdown: Voters handed Republicans overwhelming victories and a Senate majority — in large part because of dissatisfaction with the man in the White House. The shutdown was a distant memory. “I don’t think anybody paid a big price for it,” Senator Joe Manchin III, a West Virginia Democrat who is facing a competitive re-election race this fall, said of the 2014 election. A shutdown likely means that

‪‪Leslie Van Houten and charles manson death ‪Leno and Rosemary LaBianca‬, ‪Governor of California‬‬

Jerry Brown has reversed a parole board’s decision to free Manson family killer Leslie Van Houten. In September, the Board of Parole Hearings found Van Houten, 68,  suitable for release . When she was 19, Van Houten took part in the brutal slayings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in Los Angeles on Aug. 10, 1969. “The question I must answer is whether Leslie Van Houten will pose a current danger to the public if released from prison,” Brown wr ote in his statement, released Friday night. He said he had to consider Van Houten’s young age at the time of the crime, her dysfunctional upbringing and other mitigating factors. Van Houten's attorney, Rich Pfeiffer, said Brown's decision  shows an unprecedented and unlawful reliance to deny parole based on the circumstances of the crime, rather than the inmate's fitness. "We're going to challenge this in court," Pfeiffer said. "I expect the courts to uphold the law and allow her to be released."

The sound of '80s hit rock will sweep into Comerica Park this summer. Journey and Def Leppard will play the Detroit Tigers' ballpark on July 13, part of a 58-show tour that pairs two of that era's enduring names. The summer-long run is being officially announced this morning after several days of online buzz. Elliott says there's a lot more in the catalogue that could soon see the light of day, too. In addition to Def Leppard's leisurely-paced work on a new album ("We're not contracted to record anything," he says, "When we've got enough material to make a new record, we will") and the band members' various work on other projects, they uncovered a lot of back catalogue goodies they hope to release. "Once this deal was happening, we'd get questions like, 'Have you got anything that never came out before?'" the singer says. "We started to discover a few things and were like, 'I forgot about that.

Donald Trump‬, ‪Government shutdown in the United States‬, ‪The Pentagon‬‬ 2018

“A government shutdown will be devastating to our military . . . something the Dems care very little about!” — President Trump,  in a tweet , Jan. 18 As Congress debates whether to pass a short-term spending resolution or attempt to address immigration issues in a longer-term compromise, Trump has said and tweeted that a shutdown would most drastically impact military funding. “If for any reason it shuts down, the worst thing would be what happens to our military,” he said Wednesday before a meeting at the Pentagon. “The group that loses big would be the military, and we’re never letting our military lose at any point.” But a government shutdown, which could happen on Friday if Congress does not pass a resolution to keep it open, would not stop the military from functioning. Since the military is considered an “essential” function — i.e. halting its operations could result in fatalities or impede national security — it will continue to operate regardless of whether or not
